​You should know: Successful completion of a commercial background check is required before any person has access to students, either on or off school property. There is no cost to the volunteer. Background checks are good for two years.

Commercial Background check for Volunteers in the school or fieldtrips: Go to https://www.aacps.org/chaperone and scroll to the bottom of the page to request a commercial background check. ​

​Additionally, All WFE volunteers must watch this video and sign and submit this form to the school. This form is school-based and focuses on ensuring and maintaining student safety and is required only once while at WFE.

​Some chaperone volunteer opportunities require fingerprinting, such as the kindergarten field trip and Drownproofing. Fingerprinting is free of charge to chaperones (AACPS pays), and otherwise costs $60. Only needs to be done one time within AACPS
